Mental performance coaching helps performers develop the mental skills to make their minds work for them—not against them. At H.E.R.O. Labs, we use person-centered and cognitive-behavioral frameworks to help performers strengthen mental skills.
Mental performance coaching is DIFFERENT from and DOES NOT replace clinical mental health services, including counseling, therapy, or psychotherapy. Our work focuses on performance-related thoughts, behaviors, and mental skills. For example, we may help a performer manage performance anxiety, while concerns involving generalized anxiety, significant distress, or symptoms outside the scope of performance coaching may be referred to an appropriate licensed mental health professional.

H.E.R.O. Labs works with athletes, teams, coaches, parents, business owners, first responders, and other performers across a variety of performance environments. Services are individualized based on each performer’s goals, experiences, and needs.
-
At H.E.R.O. Labs, we believe there is a person behind every performance—and that person matters. Our approach goes beyond simply teaching mental skills by taking the time to understand each performer’s unique experiences, goals, challenges, and environment.
Our work is individualized, collaborative, and performance-focused. We combine evidence-informed mental performance strategies with the expertise and lived experience of the performer, while collaborating with coaches, parents, and professionals across disciplines when appropriate. This allows us to support the whole performer—not just what happens during competition.
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We meet performers where they are, build from their strengths, and develop practical skills they can carry into sport, work, and life.
-
H.E.R.O. Labs sessions can take place in a variety of professional settings to best meet the needs of each performer. With the exception of live coaching, all services are available both in person and virtually.
For live coaching, the mental performance coach and performer will determine the most appropriate performance environment based on the performer’s goals and needs. For other in-person services, the coach can meet the performer at their training facility, workplace, school, or another mutually agreed-upon professional setting.

Information shared during sessions remains confidential, with limited exceptions when there is a serious and immediate concern for the safety of the performer or others, including disclosure of intent to harm oneself or someone else, or concerns that someone is attempting to harm the performer.
If a referral to an outside professional or service is recommended, the performer’s information will remain confidential and will not be shared without their written permission, except when disclosure is required by law or necessary to address an immediate safety concern.
